Synth-pop duo TeamMate, with roots planted in Morgantown, West Virginia, and a sound engineered in Los Angeles, thrives on the collision of analog warmth and digital shimmer.. Comprised of keyboardist Scott Simons (a familiar face as a musician on America’s Got Talent and a veteran of WV staple The Argument) and angelic vocalist and drummer Dani Buncher, TeamMate has just dropped an unexpected slice of holiday melancholy: a stunning cover of The Pretenders’ iconic ‘2000 Miles.’
The new single strips away the original’s gentle acoustic strums, replacing them with lush, analogue synthesizers and a driving, reverbed beat, effectively trading late-December warmth for a glistening, cinematic winter heartache that feels both instantly nostalgic and perfect for the modern holiday moment.
