Sierra Ferrell performing at Healing Appalachia 2024

Sierra Ferrell is a Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter and musician from southern West Virginia. Her music is a unique blend of folk, bluegrass, old-time country, and gypsy jazz. After leaving home in her early twenties, she spent years traveling and busking across the country, which heavily influenced her distinct, time-bending sound. Her most recent album, “Trail of Flowers,” earned her a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album in 2025, and she has been recognized as a rising star in the Americana and roots music scene.

Joining Sierra Ferrell will be the opening guest, Andrew Parsons & Seneca. The Morgantown-based band, founded by WVU students, has been garnering a big fan base around the state, and will kick off the night’s musical festivities. The event is a traditional part of WVU’s Welcome Week, providing a free concert for students to celebrate the start of the new academic year.

This opportunity for Parsons and company is well deserved as they have shown they have the ability to be one of the next big artists out of West Virginia. Of the opportunity Andrew told us “It means everything. We formed at WVU and getting a chance to play Fall Fest is a huge thing for us.”

U92 DJ Max Clark will kick off the festivities.
