West Virginia’s post hardcore band, PRSCTT has released their first official ep called “It Only Took Forever.” The band has released demos over the years but finally made it to the studio to put together a proper showcase of their material. We spoke with Dylan (Guitar/Vocals) and Chris (Drummer) of the band about the release and why it took forever to make it happen and their passion for the bees.
Give them a follow on Facebook and Instagram.

BB: It Only Took Forever”—what finally unleashed these songs? Spill the core frustration or triumph behind that title.
Dylan: The title originally came from a quote from me, when we made a trip up to Erie, Pennsylvania for a show. Aside from that, it’s just been a long and winding process to make these songs up to par for an official release. Big thanks to John Poole and Wind Up Bird Studios for putting up with us on throughout this whole experience.
Chris: At this point they’re all old songs! They’re the first songs we ever wrote as PRSCTT but we were in no rush to release until John Poole asked if we wanted to record at Wind-Up Bird Studio. Since then we all went through a bit of a trial by fire to get our first official release how we wanted it.

BB: Charleston, WV post-hardcore: paint us the scene. How has that shaped PRSCTT’s sound? Any unlikely local sparks?
Dylan: I dunno we’re the only band like us around. We’re just adjacent enough to be able to meld with heavier and softer bands in the rock/punk/core genres.
Chris: I think the Charleston/Huntington/Beckley scene has really shaped our sound over time. There’s so many great bands that we love playing with and it’s impossible not to be inspired or influenced by them.
BB: Lyrical gut punch on “It Only Took Forever”—what are the rawest themes you’re digging into? Lifeline or mirror to the madness?
Dylan: Lyrically the EP talks about a lot of personal life and experiences. Be it talking about past relationships, coping with emotions, substance abuse, or even the worry of the declining bee population.
Chris: I only wrote lyrics for one song on this EP, “Honey Bee.” It’s about not dying. Also, we have to save the bees, y’all!

BB: Sonically, this EP hits hard but has hooks. What bands, sounds, or unexpected vibes fueled this blend? Give us the sonic DNA.
Dylan: Bands that inspired me for this project: Balance and Composure, La Dispute, Touché Amoré, Vanna, alexisonfire
Chris: Balance and Composure, Touche Amore, Circle Takes the Square; emotions, struggles, bees, and trying to find happiness through music and friends.
BB: What West Virginia bands are you listening to and whats next for PRSCTT?
Dylan: Routine Days is the best band ever. And what’s next for prsctt? New songs and 10 billion shows.
Chris: So many! A Blue Shell Paradox, Jerks!, Grown Bones, Routine Days, Contact Sports, Rat Ship, Ghost Home, Nearly Mine, Emmalea Deal and the Hot Mess, Agency, Dinosaur Burps, and so many more the whole WV scene is stacked!
Next for us? Who knows. More shows definitely. I don’t think any upcoming shows are announced atm just follow us, we have some cool stuff to announce for May! And maybe we’ll get our shed paid off soon and have some money for merch and studio time. 🖤🐝
