This Saturday, one of Morgantown’s most beloved and influential bands steps back onto a stage that once felt like their living room. The Argument returns to 123 Pleasant Street for the first time in twenty years, marking only their second show since reuniting; a moment fans have been waiting on for two decades.
For a band whose original heyday was built inside the walls of 123, this isn’t just another gig. It’s a homecoming. A reset. A reminder of what once was and what still very much is.

Their first show back happened just over a year ago, when they reunited for The Born & Bred Concert Series at the Robinson Grand last April. That night proved what longtime fans already knew: the chemistry never left. The harmonies were still airtight, the songwriting still sharp, and the energy still unmistakably theirs. Now, a year later, they’re stepping into a room that helped shape them.

And the timing couldn’t be better. Tomorrow, April 24, The Argument release a new song “Swimmingly.” We got a preview of it and it’s a gorgeous, shimmering track that floats on stacked harmonies and a melodic warmth that nods to the Beach Boys without ever feeling retro. It’s modern, clean, and emotionally open; proof that the band isn’t just revisiting the past; they’re adding new chapters to it.
Hearing that song drop one day and then seeing the band live the next feels like the perfect one‑two punch. A reminder of where they came from and a glimpse of where they’re headed.
Saturday night at 123 Pleasant Street isn’t just a show. It’s a reunion with a band that helped soundtrack a moment in Morgantown’s musical history and who are now stepping back into the light with something new to say.
If you were there twenty years ago, you already know why this matters. If you weren’t, this is your chance to understand.
