The Born & Bred Reader’s Poll Best of 2024 nominations have closed and the number of musicians nominated in their respective categories is a testament to how much talent and diversity there is in the West Virginia music scene. There are over 100 artists nominated throughout the different genres and 14 Producers and 10 festivals.
We combed through each nomination to make sure they met the criteria to be included in this year’s votes. As a reminder the simple criteria are included below.
- Artists must have released original music or new versions of music between the dates of December 1, 2023 and November 30, 2024.
- Artists must have been Born in West Virginia or Bred in West Virginia. What does that mean? They may have been born here but living in another state where they make music. (Chris Weaver, Sierra Ferrell, Rett Madison) They may have been born elsewhere but call West Virginia home (The Moon My Twin) or lived here for a bit and built their career while living here. (Tyler Childers)
- Producers must have produced something released in 2024.
- Music Festivals must occur within West Virginia.
