Lords Of Lester have released an a single entitled “Thirty Eighth Parallel.” The Lords, as they are known around the Born & Bred Studio, is the brain child of artist and musician Jamie Lester. This new track is the first since last summer’s album, “Oracle.” Lester said the song was the product of a songwriters group he’s in where the prompt was “drawing parallel lines” which drew him to the Korean War. The divide between North and South Korea sits roughly on the 38th Parallel. The track harkens to that war but for anyone who has served, or has family that served, this track will echo things you know. Listen to it below. Grab a box of tissues first.
A.M. Benson released his second single “Hometown Blues” today. This song sees Benson tackle the joy of playing in a venue that you’re just not sure is really worth it anymore and fighting through the distractions that go along with those gigs. We all know that feeling all too well. You play a gig in your hometown and no one comes and you question whether it’s worth it. We believe it is. Our favorite line of the song says “I’ve been sweating out my sins on this stage.” As any performer who writes original music will tell you, the stage can sometimes double as a confessional booth. Mor Ilderton is a newcomer on the West Virginia and national scene. The young singer made his debut on NBC’s “The Voice” a couple of months ago and was an automatic hit getting three chair turns and eventually landing on Michael Bublé’s team. Bublé unfortunately had to pick between Mor and his competitor and chose to part ways with the Teays Valley native. However, Gwen Stefani, who did not turn her chair in the original performance from Mor, was quick to snatch him up and he avoided elimination. Today sees Mor release his first single since appearing on the competition, “Stranger.” This song shows off the folk stylings of this artist that puts him right at home along artists like Noah Kahan, Mumford & Sons, and others. Adam Yokum has released a song that is a little different musically from what his output has been over the last couple of years. And it’s great. This acoustic driven track is infused with some of the beats and synth he’s used in the past but the guitar is way more to the front on this track. And the lyrical content of this song made it the perfect song to choose this direction. Adam uses the imagery of West Virginia to talk about not wanting to lose a woman that he loves to someone else. Andrew Parson has released a new track “Those Nights.” This folk driven country track recounts the nights that remind someone of simpler times and people that love and care about them. This artist is just getting going but we are excited to see where it leads. Great vocals, music and story telling that remind us of a mix of Tyler Childers and Zach Bryan. Listen below.
Jared Henry dropped another track today that will have anyone that has been touched by the drug epidemic in tears. “Stay” recognizes the helplessness so many feel when their loved ones are in the throes of addiction and says, I know I can’t fix this but please just fight and stay. There isn’t much more to say about it than that as the piano driven song really does the talking. Listen below.
