We love Emmalea Deal & The Hot Mess. We can’t hide that. This power pop punk group knows how to write some rock & roll and that gets stuck on repeat. “Lie To Me” is the newest offering from this powerhouse and it’s heavier than what they normally serve up. The guitar riffs and vocals have a little more growl to them and are accompanied by a scream vocal that culminates in a perfect pack of dynamite that cements our belief they are one to watch from West Virginia. Listen to “Lie To Me” below.

Folk musician Ryan Brandenburg has released an EP of four songs entitled “Thurmond Depot.” This collective sounds like it came down off the mountains and into your headphones. The music here is the sound of the hills and the stories are the sounds of the leaves rustling in the fall. Listen to “Appalachian Rain” below.

Have we mentioned that Better From Here were the winners of Born & Bred’s readers poll for Best Punk Band of 2023? Well they are in case you didn’t know and now they’ve made themselves eligible to be in the running again with their new single “GET ME OUT!” The production on this track from their first EP is leaps and bounds ahead of that first release. And it was good. If this is indicative of the forthcoming album we can’t wait to hear it. Listen to the new song below.

Maria Lynne is an alternative pop artist that makes music that fits her mood instead of making music that fits a genre. She has released a new single that has been receiving positive reviews from anyone that’s heard it. After teasing that she would be releasing a cover it was revealed to be an unexpected version of “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne. Eschewing the riff the song is known for, Maria chose to highlight the lyrics of this song that are often overlooked. Jeremy Batten provided an ethereal synth that laid the basis for her to sing a haunting multi part harmony that shows that in 2024 these lyrics are still true. Produced by Brandon Wood, this song is one you need to hear and should be featured in a trailer for an apocalyptic movie.

And now for one we missed. Seneca is a newer group that released their first single “Mountain Man” a couple of weeks ago. And while we are bummed that we missed it, we are estatic to have heard it. This song is a great intro to what this Morgantown based band is up to and we can’t wait to hear more. Listen to it below.
