Brad Paisley has released his first new music of 2024. Following up his 2023 EP “Son Of The Mountains” with a song entitled Truck Still Works. This song is described by Paisley as something old but with new tires on it and that’s a perfect description for how this song feels. Brad’s guitar work and story telling are always top notch and that’s still the story with this song. “Let’s see if them miles of corn still have that shade of green” is such an evocative line for anyone that grew up in the country and shows off how to use references to color without being too in your face. Listen below.

Charles Wesley Godwin released a new version of his song 10-38 earlier this week, which was accompanied by a cover of the song it follows up State Trooper, originally done by Bruce Springsteen. We wrote about it earlier this week here. Listen to 10-38 below.

Sierra Ferrell pops up everywhere these days and we can’t get enough of her. This time she has performed a duet with fellow busker turned national touring artist Benjamin Tod. The pair teamed up on Tod’s track One Last Time from his upcoming album “Shooting Star.” The blend of their vocals, as Ferrell provides some seamless harmonies throughout the song, is a throwback to a classic era of country and is a much welcomed return. Watch the newly released music video below.
Stephen Thomas has been hitting the promotion hard for his new song because he really wants you to hear this message. And there’s a good reason, we all need to be reminded of this from time to time. R&B artist, Brandhi Irvon teamed up with Monstalung on a new track Nobody But Us. This track reminds us that hip hop started as the voice of the streets and was used to talk about things that were impacting the Black community. The duo show us that there isn’t much that has changed but by working together we can make an impact. This song that feels at place today or if it were from the late 70s. Listen below.
Also, congrats to Monstalung on his selection as one of the six National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. (NABS) 2024 Black Appalachian Storytellers Fellows. For more information go to https://www.nabsinc.org/2024-basf-awardees.
