Grace Campbell has been making waves across the state and region on the release of her album “Bloom.” Those waves are taking her to new heights as she recently won a contest hosted by Women Who Rock and was named as their “2024 Rising Star.”

We spoke with Grace about the competition and what it meant for her to earn this honor. Of the award she said, “I was so excited to be selected by Women Who Rock as their Rising Star Contest Winner, because it provides me with more opportunities to lift up female artists in Appalachia. Women Who Rock intentionally encourages women like myself to sing “loud and proud” and assists in creating the right connections with other likeminded individuals with the desire to lift up women in the music industry, and for myself, in Appalachia.”

The award comes with several perks for Campbell. She will be performing at Stage AE on August 28th with Melissa Etheridge, DJ Femi, and Margot Bingham. This slot will be just days before she opens a show for Plain White T’s in Morgantown. Grace went on to explain, “I also will have the opportunity to track a single completely free of charge with The Vault Recording out of Pittsburgh. On top of all that I’ll be involved extensively in the promotional efforts for the Women Who Rock Benefit Concert by doing interviews, radio spots, and performing for local PA legislation.”

The opportunity for Grace to participate came in large part due to her persistent efforts and hard work to get noticed.

“I’m pretty vigilant on social media and have tried to be strategic about where I want to play next. I knew the next logical step to grow my music was to start playing more shows in Pittsburgh—a large metropolitan closest to where I live—so I started looking into organizations in that area that a. Supported local music and b. Wanted artists like me to get involved. I got connected with Women Who Rock a few years ago, and when the contest came around this year I decided it was time to enter and give it a shot.”

Of the chance to get this exposure, she stated, “I can’t express my gratitude enough for this opportunity, and I hope to see you at Stage AE!”

Congrats to Grace and we can’t wait to see where the journey takes her!
