Hailing from Beckley West Virginia, Alabaster Boxer isn’t your typical band. They are a unique musical project led by singer-songwriter Nick Durm. Formed in 2022, Alabaster Boxer is making waves with their innovative blend of folk, pop, bluegrass, and Americana, infused with a rockin’ energy.
Their sound is a captivating mix of folk melodies harmonizing with pop sensibilities, all backed by the twang of a banjo and an excellent mix of keys, driving drums and pulsating bass-lines that create a recipe for a truly dynamic listening experience.
Alabaster Boxer isn’t afraid to experiment. Their debut album, “Currency of Dreams,” showcases their versatility, weaving together heartfelt ballads, foot-stomping anthems, and introspective singer-songwriter moments.
While they’re a relatively new project, Alabaster Boxer is already gaining recognition. They won Born & Bred 2023 Folk Artist Of The Year and the Appalachian Arts and Entertainment Pop Artist of 2024. And if you’re wondering why, you have to see them live. Their album is incredible but seeing them live really tells the story. And to that end, they recorded a live album on February 3rd at The Raleigh Playhouse in Beckley. Today saw the first release from that recording, a new track entitled, This Isn’t Love that features their friend Chandler Beavers on mandolin. This new song shows off the energy and the musicianship of each member that makes Alabaster Boxer a legit contender on the music scene.
