Folk-Rock artists Verdeant Band released their first EP this weekend. The piano driven “Wild Lullabies” features two tracks Cowboy and Peter Pan.
The title for the EP comes from a line in Cowboy, a track that laments the commercialization of experiences as they are co-opted for entertainment with an underlying message of losing ones identity.
The emotive track Peter Pan paints the narrative of the boy who didn’t want to grow up in a different light. The titular hero is seemingly cast as the villain in a toxic relationship where the traits that make Pan endearing are shown as being negative in a relationship. Here Peter is a sociopath that gaslights the audience by telling them they didn’t like their previous life and they are better off being with Pan. The childlike behavior is manipulative and used to control in this setting.
