Fairmont, WV—Tickets are on sale now for the Fairmont State University Masquers student theatre organization production of Rocky Horror Show (November 3-5, 9-11) at the Wallman Hall Theater on the campus of Fairmont State University.
Rocky Horror Show runs November 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11 at 7:30 pm and November 5 at 2:00 pm. All performances take place in the Wallman Hall Theater. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online or in person at the Fairmont State Box Office in Wallman Hall.
Directed by Troy Snyder, with choreography by Shannon Yost and music direction by Elizabeth Wotring-Nelson, Rocky Horror will have audiences doing the “Time Warp” again” experiencing Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s spooky castle in Richard O’Brien’s gender-bending spoof of horror and science fiction B-movies opens.
The Rocky Horror Show is known for its unique blend of music genres. The cult classic follows the story of Brad and Janet, who stumble upon the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter and a houseful of eccentric characters. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation, making for a thrilling and unforgettable experience for audiences. This production includes flashing lights, adult themes, sexual situations, strong language, and implied violence/gore. It is recommended for audiences at least high school age.
Audience participation for the Masquers Production of the Rocky Horror Show is encouraged. “Because watching a movie and experiencing a live stage play is very different, we have decided to discourage the use of props for audience participation to ensure the safety of our actors and audience. But, we encourage audience members to participate in other ways, like dressing up as their favorite Rocky Horror character, taking part in audience callbacks, dancing, and most importantly, having a FUN time!” says Rocky Horror Show Director Troy Snyder. “We have put in a lot of hard work over the past few months to bring this production to life. We’re proud to have a talented cast of Fairmont State Students who have dedicated themselves to this project. The cast also includes two recent graduates, Jason Englestad and Ashley Morgan Fink, who were unable to perform in the planned production of Rocky Horror Show that was set for the Fall of 2020 but canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast and production team have put their hearts into this, and we can’t wait to share this experience with the community”.
The Masquers Student Theatre Organization will be hosting an audience costume contest during each performance. The contest will be based on audience reaction and applause, with one winner selected each night. The lucky winner will receive a gift basket filled with candy, Rocky Horror Show-themed merchandise, and more.
Fairmont State is celebrating 100 years of the Masquers student theatre organization this year. In 1921, college theater took root at what was then known as Fairmont State Normal School. A faculty director was hired in 1923, and the Masquers were formed. The Masquers were charged with presenting a season of major productions for students and the public. Masquers has continued as the student theatre-producing organization at Fairmont State University. Its function is to support faculty-directed productions as well as student-driven projects. Each Masquers production features a cast, crew, and artistic team comprised of students and professionals who commit their time, talent, and steadfast dedication to each performance.
The cast includes Franky Satterfield as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Wesley Benson as Brad Majors, Katie Scherzinger as Janet Weiss, Isabella Gibson (The Usherette), Olivia Short (Narrator), Jason Englestad (Riff Raff), Hayley Harvey (Magenta), Ashley Morgan Fink (Columbia), Johnathan Richards (Rocky), Kyle Matthews (Eddie), Colton Daft (Dr. Scott), Isabella Gibson, Lauren Gidley, Catherine Gray, Khloe Hazuka, Tessa Jolly, Ruby Kniceley, Kat Lavender, Kyle Matthews, Gracie Nardella, Dalton Stanley, Olivia Torri, Haley Zoladz.
