West Virginia educator and musician Parry Casto released his first solo single, “Just Want to Be Alive on Christmas Day,” on Friday, December 5. All royalties, digital sales, and listener contributions will be donated directly to Recovery Point West Virginia and Healing Appalachia, with the goal of strengthening recovery support across the region.

The song reflects the emotional challenges many people face during the holiday season and highlights the heightened vulnerability experienced by individuals in recovery.

Casto developed the release with the belief that music can offer connection and comfort during a time when many feel overlooked or overwhelmed.

Parry views this project as something larger than a personal artistic release. He hopes the song can reach people who may need reassurance during the winter months and also bring greater attention to organizations that provide transformative support, including music-based recovery programming. While financial gain was never the goal, he hopes the release inspires listeners to give back during the holidays or feel moved in a meaningful way.

Funds generated from the single will help sustain peer recovery services, music and arts therapy, and essential care offered by Recovery Point and Healing Appalachia.

The single and donation information is available on his Bandcamp. An accompanying video for the track is available at the link below.
