Morgantown, WV – There was a line outside the door of the historic 123 Pleasant St, as fans waited to grab their spot inside the hallow halls to catch a show featuring some of the best in up and coming talent in West Virginia.
Merch was flying off the tables before a single chord had been played and the sense of community amongst the patrons was palpable. Much of the crowd was there to catch the headliner Seneca, but were about to be wowed by each act that took the stage.
Kicking things off was a new artist to us, Maximus. Armed with just a guitar and his songs this young man impressed us with his blend of folky Americana with a soulful pop that reminded us of Ed Sheeran. Be watching out for more from him.

Next up was Charleston based Dalchord. While we have had the chance to see them perform in our Born & Bred Studio as part of our Stomping Grounds series we hadn’t seen them put on a whole set. This band is going places. This show was next level professionalism and they came across as a national touring act that should be sharing stages with major acts across the country. Their set was high on energy and high on talent. If you haven’t seen them yet, do not miss out on a chance to see a show.

Closing out the evening was Morgantown’s own Seneca. This band reminds us of the trajectory we watched take place with Charles Wesley Godwin. These guys are well on their way to being known statewide and have gotten better with every show we have seen them perform. They are a tight five piece that has fantastic crowd interaction and knows how to keep the fans fully engaged throughout their set.
