The Shindy Music Festival happened this past Saturday at Ferguson Memorial Park situated in the hills of Shinnston, West Virginia. The day was full of perfect weather, music, vendors, food trucks and bounce houses for kids. A great crowd was on hand throughout the day to take in the original music created by West Virginians.

The days festvities kicked off with Andrew Parson & Seneca bringing a mix of originals and covers. These guys will be headlining festivals before too long.

They were followed up by one of the greatest songwriters in the country Jamie Lester. His ability to weave thought provoking storytelling with melodic vocals is unique.

Newcomer to the festival circuit, Kurt Shultis and the Free People won the crowd over instantly. The talent in this group had the attendees captivated from the moment they hit the first notes. If you’re not booking this band for your venue and fests you’re doing it wrong.

Never Zero was up next with their nineties alt rock sound that had them gaining new fans throughout their set. They were joined with a guest appearance from Alabaster Boxer’s front man Nick Durm.

Next up were high energy alt rockers Last Year’s Model. This Shinnston based band left everything on the stage and performed their newest release “Old Days” as well as a performance of an upcoming track “Chasing The Night” that sees them show a poppier side. They were joined by Maria Lynne on their track “Home.”

Grace Campbell and her band followed up LYM with a rocking set of their own that showed why this band is garnering the success and following that they have. Performing songs from her full length album “Bloom” as well as some other tracks had Grace fitting in perfect with the atmosphere of Shindy.

A Tale Of Two wrapped a whirlwind of a mini tour on the stage in Shinnston. The Nashville based duo made their way up the mountains to perform their blend of jazz and Americana to a very receptive crowd.

Co-headliner for Shindy 2025, Corduroy Brown was an instant hit for the attendees of the festival. His unique take on pop alt rock won him a bunch of new fans as he tore through tracks like “Doin My Best” and playing some new material as well. Catch him at Healing Appalachia next month.

Closing out the evening was last minute and much welcomed fill in Alabaster Boxer. This band got the call a few days before the festival an jumped in after original co-headliner Kindred Valley had to pull out of the day. While they were missed AB brought exactly what was needed for the evening. They played a mix of standard favorites as well as songs off their newest EP. They too were joined by Maria Lynne. The chords of their closer “The Holiest Ghosts” echoed through the night sky as Shindy 2025 came to a close.

We at Born & Bred were happy to be sponsors of Shindy 2025 and look forward to August 1, 2026 when we will do it all again! Check out some other scenes from the day below.
