Charles Wesley Godwin has dropped a new single from his upcoming EP, “Lonely Mountain Town.” The single entitled “It’s The Little Things” paints a picture of what Charles is about to release. The EP season team up with some heavy hitters such as Scott Avett from the Avett Brothers and Ernest. Check out the new single below.

Glam rock artist, Gyasi, has released a full length album that deserves all of your attention. “Here Comes The Good Part” is just that, the good part. The whole album is an ode to those who came before this Nashville based West Virginian. Bowie, T. Rex, Queen, et al. would all be proud to have Gyasi carry on the torch for this genre. And while those influences are all over this music, Gyasi has forged a path within music that is all their own. Listen to “Sweet Thing” below. Order the vinyl HERE.

Dinosaur Burps dropped “Lost Tapes From The Moonbase.” Their social channels describe the project as a collection of outtakes, demos and instrumentals. It contains a long lost Meuwl track, a Rabble Rousers fan favorite never before available on streaming, outtakes, previously unheard instrumentals and more! It includes production by Day One fam L-NO, 95, Billy Plat, and Joey Smooth. Guest verses by Mic Rude and Duck City Music! Click the link below to buy it on BandCamp.
Beyond The Barrier has released their first single, “Frienemies.” This raucous alt-rock track keeps you on the edge of your seat as they rip through the lyrics of this track. At times, the song seems to be tinged with ska sensibilities that create a foundation for the vocals to berate you in a way that reminds us of deliveries from swing revivalists Squirrel Nut Zippers. The band says “Beyond the Barrier is thrilled to announce the release of our first single, “Frienemy” straight from North Central WV! This is a taste of our unique blend of genres that you won’t get tired of exploring.” Check out the track below.

Deep Jackson released a five song EP “< Is More.” The five tracks show off why this rap artist is one of the best in the region and why he was featured on Appalshop’s “No Options: Hip Hop in Appalachia” mix album. His track “West Virginia Reign” that appeared there closes out this EP. Listen to “Diamonds (Coal Country)” below.
The Starlight Darlins, which features Morgantown musician, Gray Buchanan (Hillbilly Biscuits) have released their EP “Skyline.” The group described as a queer Appalachian folk quartet has amazing four part harmonies layered over bluegrass instrumentation. On their BandCamp they describe “Skyline” as their testament to hope in the face of darkness. Click below to purchase the EP from their BandCamp.

THE STARLIGHT DARLINS BANDCAMP

One of the more anticipated projects from a West Virginia band has released on BandCamp. The Wild Shoats have put out their full length album “Yell In The Shoats” today. The 11 track project is simply put, beautiful. The musicianship and song crafting of this quartet are just another testament to the talent that is permeating the mountains of West Virginia. Of recording the album they say, “What we heard in these songs and tunes could only be conveyed through an analog medium. Sometimes you can hear the ghosts in the tape just like our favorite Townes Van Zandt records.”
One of our favorite artists, Adam Yokum, released a new single “giants fall away” today. The song talks about giving yourself grace from your past and focusing on where you are. “Why would I trip on where I’ve been, when the beauty is where I stand?” Yokum continues to be a standard bearer for West Virginia music and elevates himself with each new release. Listen to it below.

Allan Dale Sizemore released his song “God’s Footprints” exclusively through Born & Bred today. You can read our interview with him HERE and listen to it below.

Columbus, Ohio based metal outfit Lo-Pan features West Virginians Jeff Martin and Jesse Bartz in the lineup. And today they released their new single and accompanying video for their song “Ozymandias” which features their mothers taking their roles in the band. The catchy song shows off why this band has been able to maintain their success and continued growth, twenty years into their career. Make sure to check out their full length album “Get Well Soon” dropping on April 4th!
