January is going out with a full plate. December and January tend to be slim pickings as far new releases go. But now things begin to ramp up as Hello June, Dalchord, The Wild Shoats, and Sam Eplin all released new music this week.

Listen to all of the amazing West Virginia Music on our Spotify Playlist and Apple Playlist.

Fresh off their win for Born & Bred’s Best Americana Artist of 2024 Reader’s Poll, Hello June has released a remix of their song “Dance” from their 2017 EP “Spruce.” The remix was done by M. Walker. The alt rock of the original is stripped away and replaced with a, dare we say, dance beat. Reminiscent of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” this track is going to make you … want to dance. Listen below.

Dalchord have released an alternate version of their song “Rhododendron Queen.“ The original which was released a year ago to the day from the new version, was a bit more subdued in comparison. The addition of the some bluegrass instrumentation gives the song a folkier sound. We love both versions and you can listen to the alternate version below.

One band that has caught the attention of many across the state is The Wild Shoats. There’s a very good reason for the attention and it’s obvious when you listen to their first single “Moonshiner.” The musicianship and harmonies, accompanied by the story in this traditional West Virginia folk song, transport you to another place. We can’t wait to hear the full length album “Yell In The Shoats” on February 7th! Listen to “Moonshiner” below.

Sam Eplin has released his fourth single in the last six months, entitled “Blame.” This song was part of the RadioWV series he did in 2023 and now it’s got an official release. The track sees Eplin channel Johnny Cash and his approach to rhythm guitar while maintaining his identity. These four singles paint a picture of where Sam is headed musically and we are excited to see what’s next from him. Listen to “Blame” below.
