The crisp mountain air of Clarksburg, West Virginia buzzed with anticipation on March 23rd. The historic Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center was set to host the latest installment of the Born & Bred Concert Series, a celebration of local talent nurtured by the rich musical heritage of the Mountain State.
As the crowd came through the doors of the Grand they were greeted to the sounds of Silas Matheny playing a mix of originals and covers in the lobby. The vip room was full of people moving around and mingling while John Bonnett entertained them. Those who took their seats while waiting for the show to begin had the pleasure of hearing the original music of 2023 Born & Bred Country Artist Of The Year Khegan McLane.
Robinson Grand, Programs Manager, Jason Young welcomed the crowd, promising a night of homegrown music. The energy was palpable as each performer took their turn starting with host Appalachian Soul Man Aristotle Jones and his band.
Headlining the event was Philip Bowen, a rising star who’d recently captivated audiences on America’s Got Talent. Bowen’s soulful voice and impressive skills on multiple instruments would weave a tapestry of Appalachian-inspired melodies. Joining him were local talents Adrian Michael and Grace Campbell, each bringing their unique flavor to the musical gumbo.
As the lights dimmed and the crowd settled in, a hush fell over the Robinson Grand. Each performer poured their heart and soul into their music, creating a sound that was both familiar and electrifying.
